This year’s IPC theme is “PREJUDICE”
Prejudice can be defined in one of several ways. There is the intellectual as well as the behavioural aspect of prejudice. Thoughts and feelings linked to prejudice are generally not based upon the experience the individual, but rather the prevailing thoughts and attitudes of the society within which the individual has been socialized. These thoughts and feelings may also have an impact on the physical space and social interaction patterns preferred by that person through the photos that they capture.
Prejudice is more than the discrimination and injustice that people experience in their daily lives. Imagine a photo of a yellow duckling in the middle of a group of the black ducklings. Another picture can be the inequality of blacks and whites. It can also be about something which shows favouritism. We want to raise the issue of injustice and discrimination with concept of “prejudice”, and create an awareness in our viewers about this pervasive issue through the photographs. Depending on the creativity of the participating photographers, the images they capture may portray both the positive and negative sides of prejudice.
